The basic handgun safety and personal protection class is taught by Raye Günther.
Raye is a former USMC
Sergeant, and is N.R.A. certified and experienced in all
aspects of firearm usage.
Course material includes of the types of handguns, their care and
cleaning, ammunition types and usage,
methods of carry, and basic marksmanship.
After a lunch break students go to the range where they fire 100
rounds of ammunition as they learn
basic stance and sighting techniques. The remaining class room time
covers the judicious use of lethal force,
the legal aspects of owning firearms and carrying them concealed, and
laws which restrict carrying concealed
The cost is $85.00 (Eighty-five dollars) per person plus the cost of 100
rounds of ammunition, cost determined by caliber.
The Baron's Den has ammunition available for purchase.
If you do not have
a firearm you may rent one from us
(for use in the class in the indoor
range) for $5.00.
The class is taught is a safe, friendly, non-threatening atmosphere
that both new
and veteran shooters will appreciate.
Once you have completed the class you will be given a N.R.A. certificate
that
entitles you to go to your county Sheriff and make your
application for your
concealed handgun license.
In Lane County the cost for the permit is @$65.00 and the permit is issued
for four years.
